What is a chiropractor?

A chiropractor is a medical professional who specializes in relieving pain in the body through treating disorders of the nervous system, bones, cartilage, muscles, tendons, and joints. They achieve this through using their hands to manipulate the spine and improve accurate alignment of the musculoskeletal structure. The aim of the manipulation is to restore mobility to the areas that are under strain or have experienced trauma.

Chiropractors most commonly treat back pain, but other conditions include:

  • Bad posture

  • Headaches

  • Joint or muscle pain

  • Sports of occupational injuries

  • Disc bulge

What do chiropractors do?

Chiropractic medicine aims to relieve health problems which are being caused by misalignment of the body’s vertebrae. They will conduct physical therapy, such as massages or motion exercises, on a patient depending on their unique needs and pain in order to readjust the musculoskeletal system.

When should I see an online chiropractor?

If you are experiencing any pain or discomfort in your skeletal system or are suffering from symptoms such as those identified above, then seeing a chiropractor may be beneficial to you.

Are chiropractors doctors?

Chiropractors are licensed practitioners, not medical doctors so they do not have a medical degree. Instead, they have extensive training in chiropractic care. Typically, a chiropractor will complete eight years of higher education and a chiropractic graduate program to become qualified.

What will the online appointment be like?

The first appointment will be an initial consultation, that typically lasts between five to thirty minutes, before any treatment occurs. In this session, the online chiropractor will ask for a description of your symptoms and reason for the appointment. This will allow them to determine the best course of treatment and develop an extensive treatment plan. If necessary, the chiropractor may recommend a follow-up appointment or a visit to a physical clinic.
